Is it the ex Daily Record editor, now running The Glasgow Red Top Herald.
independence is still very much on the SNP's agenda.
Vote labour if you want to pay £9.00 for a prescription, pay 40% more for your council tax and want to abolish elderly care. Vote SNP and none of this will happen.1scotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22403989.post-67618529153953222392010-09-17T12:12:37.588+01:002010-09-17T12:12:37.588+01:00Alex Porter I couldnt have put it any better mysel...Alex Porter I couldnt have put it any better myself, however I think everyday Scots will vote for devolution MAX along similar lines to the Isle Of Man as the everyday Scot is concerned about loosing there job there house there state pension or government pension and these concerns have to be addressed, however once devolution max is in place and a few years later when we are asked to partake in a referendum on the Euro or go to war for dubious means and England wants to go one way and Scotland the other then the UK as we know it will be over, its a step at a time Iain but Scotland will be a full member of the International community again ...and the unionist press and politicians are only delaying the inevitable.NConwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03221619304790182655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22403989.post-53651719173836251632010-09-16T20:49:48.156+01:002010-09-16T20:49:48.156+01:00"no one really knows what independence means ..."no one really knows what independence means any more."

Surely it is very simple? Having the power to make the decisions on all activities of the state, subject to international law? It is then up to the parliament or the electorate to decide which treaties, trading agreements, common defence forces, etc, should be signed up to.

At the moment, Scotland is not in that position.

"It is a question of acquiring the lost accoutrements of a state, and that process is already underway."

Except that Labour and the Conservatives seem to be part of that process only as sop to stop the SNP, and have no intention of allowing the lost accoutrements to be acquired. They don't want the process to continue. And they are happy to see Scotland suffer as a result.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22403989.post-13109611544858420152010-09-16T01:24:26.416+01:002010-09-16T01:24:26.416+01:00Ian, you have been reset to 'default Scottish...Ian, you have been reset to 'default Scottish Journo' setting. A bit tired old boy. I think you'll ...Hi Iain,

A bit tired old boy. I think you'll find the grass-roots a-buzzing about 'independence' moving centre-stage and being connected with the idea of an unviable and bankrupt Britain.

It's clear that the unionist parties and press had a game plan all based around the failure of the referendum bill. The SNP would go into the elections with their policy defeated, use their mainstream media to close down the issue, call the SNP sore losers and move on to establishing the idea that only Labour have a platform to defeat Tory cuts..

All over. Salmond will go into the election claiming only independence can stop tory cuts.

Just as the thought of marginalising the idea of independence by putting the referendum on the back burned Salmond has turned independence from a 'constitutional' issue to an economic and social one.

Remember that was the shift that got devolution off the ground..

Maybe I'm wrong but I think you've at the very least misunderstood something here.Alex Porterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06577153712026023661noreply@blogger.com
